General

Energy determines how we live. We use energy for almost everything that we do. We start the day with a cup of coffee, work with computers, listen to music, watch films and chat with friends on the other side of the world. Most of us take for granted the luxury in which we live that is only thanks to energy. Are you curious about the world that lies behind the luxury? Would you like to know everything about green types of energy? Have you studied at a college of higher education, preferably for an engineering course, and are you limitlessly ambitious? If so, the Hanze University Groningen has developed a one-year international study programme for you known as the International Power Generation and Distribution (IPGD) programme.

The IPGD programme takes you into the world of the producers of electricity. You will become acquainted with power-generating installations, the European distribution system for high voltage and alternatives for energy consumption. In a Dutch study programme, of course, you will also learn everything about the distribution of, and possibilities offered by, gas.

Inspiring international studying environment
Studying in an international programme at the Hanze University Groningen means studying in an inspiring international environment. You will be working on assignments and projects together with fellow students from different backgrounds. Excursions and guest lectures from professionals in the field of energy ensure that the programme is absorbing and varied. You will learn how to work both independently and together in (international) teams. The programme prepares you in a practical direction for a career in which there will always be something new for you to discover.

Career options
Following the IPGD programme, you will be able to get started as an energy expert at an energy company or industrial concern. Your knowledge and skills will enable you to choose an authoritative position but you could also move on to a position at management level. Considering the developments in the energy market, finding a suitable job will not be a problem.
